Bill Parker from the National Weather Service met with parish and city leaders this morning to brief them on current and upcoming weather conditions, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator. Areas of Caddo Parish received a ½ inch last night into early this morning. Parker expects an additional   1 – 1 ½ inches of rain from midnight through Sunday.

Cross Lake has crested at 178 feet and is going down. Wallace Lake has also crested. Caddo Lake is continuing to rise. Twelve Mile Bayou is continuing to rise and is currently above flood stage at 36.7 feet. It is expected to reach 39 feet and cause major flooding by early morning Tuesday. As of this morning, the Sheriff’s Office has conducted 274 water rescue operations. There have also been 64 pets rescued to include 1 bull and 10 horses. There is only one shelter opened at this time and is located at Southern University.

Sheriff Prator is urging anyone who has had damage to their home or property due to flooding to report it at reportdamages@caddosheriff.org or 318-675-2255.

The Red Cross of Northwest Louisiana has opened a reception center in the Brau Building at 805 Brook Hollow Drive in Shreveport for those who need to catch their breath, access information, assess needs, grab a snack, and develop plans. The Cowboy Church has opened a shelter at 9950 Hwy. 80 for those in need in Caddo Parish.

Numerous other roads remain threatened or impacted by high water. Sheriff Prator is urging motorists to use caution and follow all warning signs and barricades.

Inmate workers from the Caddo Correctional Center will be filling sandbags until further notice at the parish and city facilities. Sandbags are available to the public around the clock at the City of Shreveport’s Public Works facility at 3825 Old Mansfield Road and until 10 p.m. at the parish facility at 1701 Monty Street. The parish will reopen at 7 a.m.
