Update: Second person dies from I-220 crash

Update, 3/18/16, 9:52 a.m.: A second person has died from injuries sustained in this crash. Cynthia Ashley, driver of the Jeep, died late Thursday night.

A crash on I-220 Tuesday evening has claimed the life of a Shreveport woman, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

It happened just before 5:30 p.m. in the eastbound lane of the interstate near the South Lakeshore exit.  A Chevy pickup hit the rear of a Jeep Wrangler that was stopped in traffic. The Jeep then hit a Ford F250.

The passenger in the Jeep, Tina Skinner, 53, died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Jeep, Cynthia Ashley, 40, of Bossier City, was taken to University Health for treatment. The driver of the Chevy, Blake Vines, 25, of Shreveport, and his 6-year-old male passenger, refused treatment. The driver of the Ford truck, Jake Overton, 28, of Shreveport, was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit.
