Shot clinics to open tomorrow

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health, will offer free tetanus shots to Caddo/Shreveport citizens who have been exposed to flood waters but do not have access to preventative health through a regular medical facility or practitioner.

The shot clinics will be open tomorrow, March 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Caddo Sheriff’s Office north substation, 11141 Hwy. One in Oil City, and from 3-8 p.m. at Sheriff’s Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport.

Free shots are also available to first responders and those who have helped with clean-up efforts. Health officials say a tetanus shot is not necessary if you have had one in the past 10 years.

FEMA representatives will also be on hand at the Safety Town location to answer questions about individual assistance. The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana will provide snacks and water at Safety Town.
