A crash on I-49 this morning left two vehicles in flames but only one driver received minor injuries, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. in the southbound lane of the interstate near the Caddo-Desoto parish line. A Caddo Sheriff's auxiliary deputy was redirecting traffic from another accident when a Ford Fusion crashed into the back of his car, which had its emergency lights activated at the time. Both vehicles caught fire, leaving them totaled.

Eddie D. Wilkerson, 55, of Shreveport, was the driver of the Fusion. He received only minor injuries. Auxiliary Deputy Dennis Willingham was outside his vehicle when the crash occurred and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Jack Anderson of the CPSO Traffic Safety Unit.
