Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator has been appointed by Gov. John Bel Edwards to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (LCLE), an advisory board for law enforcement throughout the state.

The LCLE sets policy, develops programs, and administers federal grant funding to law enforcement and judicial programs throughout the state. It also oversees training standards for Louisiana police officers.

Among the programs funded by LCLE are DARE, the Bullet-Resistance Vest program which provides protective vests for officers, and the Crime Victims Reparations Fund.

Members of the LCLE are appointed from state law enforcement and the judiciary.

Sheriff Prator has over 40 years of law enforcement experience with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and Shreveport Police Department. This is his third appointment to the LCLE, having served also for Governors Bobby Jindal and Kathleen Blanco.

“I’m honored that Governor Edwards has asked that I continue to serve with the Commission,” Prator said. “With this appointment I will continue to work for all of our citizens by requiring the highest professional and ethical standards for our law enforcement officers.”
