CPSO to host drug awareness discussion

A veteran Caddo Sheriff’s narcotics investigator will speak about current drug trends and the dangers of illegal drug use during a discussion that is open to the public, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. May 3 at Sheriff’s Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Avenue. There is no charge to attend.

Lt. Carl Townley, who heads the CPSO Narcotics Unit, will be the speaker. Townley has more than 25 years of experience in narcotics investigation and has participated in more than 1,000 felony drug arrests. He has served as an undercover agent for the FBI, DEA, U.S. Customs, ATF, and local task forces.

Sheriff Prator said, “Lt. Townley recently shared his experiences with students and faculty at Bossier Parish Community College and was very well received. Afterward, we had many requests for him to present the same material at a time and place where working parents and grandparents could attend.

"We are very excited to present this opportunity to parents and hope many will take advantage of the chance to educate themselves about the dangers that are out there and what’s being made available to our kids.”
