Deadline nears for CPSO Reserve Academy

             The deadline to apply to become a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reserve deputy is July 15, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

 

              The Reserve Academy begins September 7 and will be held two nights each week and on Saturdays for eight weeks.

 

              Reserves are volunteer deputies. This level reserve deputy receives a minimum of 100 hours of POST training in areas such as firearms proficiency, defensive tactics, first aid, and Louisiana law..

 

              The Caddo Sheriff Office Reserve Unit currently includes 50 deputies who come from many professions and walks of life. Reserves go through the same hiring process as full-time sheriff’s employees. They must meet minimal fitness standards, be at least 21 years old, and be able to volunteer at least 120 hours each year.

 

              Applications can be obtained by visiting www.caddosheriff.org. Go to “Careers” tab and click on “Application Process.”  They can also be picked up from the Sheriff’s Office at 505 Travis Street in Shreveport.
