Caddo deputies are on the scene of an injury accident at Hwys. 1 and 173 near Blanchard.

Deputy Dennis Williams said James Pierce, 40, of Carthage, Texas was driving an 18-wheeler northbound on Hwy. 1 when witnesses said he ran a red light and hit a Chevy Equinox traveling westbound on Hwy. 173. The Equinox was driven by Laurel Tittle, 22, of Mooringsport. After impact, the 18-wheeler ran off the road and hit a traffic light support causing an outage at the intersection. 

Both drivers were taken to University Health for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Drivers are asked to use caution in the area while deputies direct traffic and repairs are made to restore the traffic light at the intersection.
