The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Shreveport man that occurred last night on Ferry Lake Road in Oil City, according to Sheriff Steve Prator.

Christopher Clay Nichols, 43, of North Market Street, was visiting a friend when he suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. After the shooting, Nichols’ friend ran to a neighbor’s, and the neighbor called 911. The incident was reported just after 10 p.m.

Nichols was transported to North Caddo Hospital in Vivian where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting is still under investigation.
