Caddo Sheriff's Lt. Philip Escude’ has been selected as Law Officer of the Year by the Voiture Locale 137 of the 40 and 8 veterans’ organization. He was recognized by the 40/8 during a ceremony Thursday in Shreveport.
During the ceremony, it was also announced that Escude’ was chosen by the state 40/8 as the Louisiana Law Officer of the Year. He will receive that award during the organization’s Grand Promenade in Lafayette this summer and will compete for the national award.
Escude’ is a 32-year veteran of the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and currently serves in the Internal Affairs Division. He previously worked in the Operations Patrol, Administrative, and Support Divisions and has held supervisory roles in Investigations, Training, Crime Scene Investigations, Identification, Criminal Records, Communications, and Warrants.
Escude’ has served on the Caddo Sheriff’s Search and Rescue / Dive Team, Hazardous Materials Response Team, Ceremonial Honor Guard Unit, Tactical Team, and in many other areas. He has served on the State Pension Board, and he completed the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was named Louisiana State Chapter President for FBI National Academy Associates in 2012.
Escude’ joined the United States Army Reserves in 1980. He began his military career in the Military Police and later became an Air Traffic Controller at Ft. Rucker, AL. He was Honorably Discharged in 1986.
