Man arrested for sending harassing messages to local media

A Keithville man is in Caddo Correctional Center today after he was arrested for sending threatening and harassing messages to employees at a local television station.

Russell Davenport, 51, of the 14000 block of Johns Gin Road, was arrested this morning by Detective Robert Greer of the Caddo Sheriff's Office. Davenport was booked into jail on eight counts of cyber stalking. Caddo Judge Ramona Emanuel set bond at $50,000 on each count.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said Davenport began contacting KTBS-TV employees on their blogs in May. Over the past several months, he posted more than 800 messages on the blogs of eight different employees. The most current message was posted yesterday. Prator said the majority of the posts contained offensive or threatening language.

KTBS blocked Davenport's IP address, but he continued to post blogs by creating new addresses. A Terms of Service Agreement published by KTBS says the station has the right to block a user if they post offensive material on the site.

Davenport
was arrested without incident at his residence. Detectives also seized four computers from his house.
