Southwood student arrested for terrorizing

A 14-year-old Southwood student was arrested today for terrorizing after he made threats to "shoot up the school," said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Students reported the comments to the school's Resource Officer, Sheriff's Cpl. Calvin Williams, who quickly started an investigation. Williams interviewed several students who said the student initially made the comments following the recent Florida school shooting and repeated them today.

The student was placed under arrest by Detective Jared Marshall and booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said the Sheriff's Office will take all reported threats seriously and use all resources to investigate them. "Parents, talk to your children about the consequences of their words and actions," he said. "It is our duty to act when this information is brought to us. We want all parents and students to feel safe in their school environment. Any threat to harm others or cause damage to a school will result in arrest."
