Waskom man wanted for beating victim with rock

Caddo Sheriff's detectives have obtained a warrant for a man who beat another man with a rock during a bar fight Tuesday night, sending the victim to the hospital.

Roger Hamilton is accused of striking David Dawson with a baseball-size rock and kicking him in the face numerous times with steel-toe boots. The fight occurred at John Henry's Bar on Hwy. 80 near Greenwood. After the fight, Hamilton fled on foot across the state line but was located a short while later by Waskom Police.

Hamilton, 27, of Waskom, was booked into the Harrison County Jail for resisting arrest. He was still being held there this morning. Caddo Sheriff's Detective Michael Escude obtained a warrant for Hamilton's arrest on a charge of aggravated second degree battery. Caddo Judge Ramona Emanuel issued a $200,000 bond. Hamilton should be transferred back to Caddo Parish within the next few days after extradition proceedings.

Dawson, 40, of DeBerry, Texas, was admitted to LSU Health Sciences Center for treatment of his injuries.He remains in the S-ICU.
