Caddo Sheriff's Office arrest several during sobriety checkpoint

Three people were arrested on DWI charges during a sobriety checkpoint conducted by the Caddo Sheriff's Office this past weekend, according to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Jason Puckett, 22, of Shreveport, was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for DWI and possession of marijuana second offense. Deputies said Puckett's blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit and that he nearly crashed into the checkpoint area. Deputies also found approximately 12 grams of marijuana on the seat of his vehicle.

Other alcohol-related arrests included Walter Hamilton, 29, of Shreveport, who was cited for DWI and open container, and Logan Medlin, 25, of Elm Grove, who was booked into CCC on a charge of DWI second offense.

John Youngblood Jr., 21, of Shreveport, was cited for a child restraint violation after he made an illegal U-turn at the checkpoint. Cody Ryan, 18, of Shreveport, was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The checkpoint was conducted in the 4300 block of North Market by Caddo deputies, reserve and auxiliary deputies. It was funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
