Caddo Deputies worked a major traffic accident on Interstate 220 westbound in south Caddo Parish this afternoon, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Earlier this afternoon, about 1:30PM, a vehicle lost a ladder on Interstate 220 westbound just before the Lakeshore Drive exit, the driver of a silver Dodge pick-up truck tried to avoid the ladder which caused a collision with the driver of a white semi-truck.

After further investigation, Deputy Dirk Chapman reported the driver of the silver Dodge pick-up truck was Bernard Paga, 77, of Pennsylvania, and the driver of the white semi-truck was Willie Gray ,30, of Texas.

Deputy Chapman reported Paga was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport by Caddo Fire District 3, and Gray was treated and released on scene, both with non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the crash, westbound traffic was rerouted for approximately seven hours until the crash along with debris was cleared from the roadway.

The crash is still being investigated by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
