A Mooringsport man is in the Caddo Correctional Center charged with committing a sex crime this past weekend and another dating back to 1972.

Michael Wayne Harris, 54, of the 5700 block of North Hwy. 169, was arrested by Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Terry Richardson after a woman reported that she was assaulted by Harris at her residence. Harris was charged with sexual battery.

During the investigation that followed, a second victim stated she was assaulted repeatedly by Harris from the time she was a small child until she was in her teens. Harris was charged with aggravated rape in connection with that report.

Harris remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff’s Office.
