The annual youth summer recreation program sponsored by the Caddo Sheriff's Office kicks off June 8, providing safe, summer activities for city youth, said Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator.

Children and teens ages 10 to 18 can participate in basketball and table games like checkers, cards and dominoes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays. The program is closed on Fridays. The activities will take place at Green Oaks, Fair Park, and Woodlawn high schools. Each location is supervised by instructors provided by the Caddo School Board.

Pre-registration is not required, and there is no fee; however, participants are required to sign in. The program will continue through July 17.
