Juveniles arrested for break-in at former Grawood school

Two juveniles were arrested on Tuesday for breaking into the old Grawood school and vandalizing it with paint and profanities, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The break-ins occurred on June 28 and 29. Intruders entered through a chained back door that led to the gymnasium. Once inside, they poured paint throughout the gym and wrote profanities and racial references on the walls. They also left behind snack wrappers, soda bottles, fingerprints and shoeprints.

On Tuesday, Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Michael Escude’ arrested two juvenile boys – ages 12 and 14 – and charged each with burglary and property damage. The boys, who are not related, were processed at Caddo Correctional Center and released to their parents.

The school, located in the 6100 block of Colquitt Road, has been closed down for several years, but was being refurbished by its new owner, Heart of Hope Ministries. The group plans to reopen the building as a women’s shelter.
