Robbery suspects now face Sheriff's charges

Two men who face robbery charges in Shreveport were also charged by the Caddo Sheriff’s Office today with the armed robbery of a convenience store in south Caddo Parish.

Mikeo Euron Johnson, 25, and John Fitzgerald Chambers, 28, both of Shreveport, were transferred from the City Jail to Caddo Correctional Center early this morning where they were also charged with robbing the General Store on Colquitt Road this past Saturday. Both men were booked for armed robbery. Johnson was also booked for the attempted first-degree murder of the store clerk.

Johnson and Chambers already face three other counts of armed robbery by city police for robberies that occurred at a Texaco convenience store, Southern Hills Grocery, and Discount Tobacco Outlet. The tobacco store robbery occurred shortly after the two robbed the General Store on Saturday.

In the General Store robbery, the two suspects had been in the store earlier and made a small purchase. They returned about 30 minutes later to make another small purchase. When the clerk opened the register, one of the suspects tried to reach into the register, but the clerk slammed it closed. The second suspect pulled a handgun, and according to the clerk, pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't discharge. The two suspects fled after taking Newport cigarettes.
