Man arrested for drug violations, battery on officers

A suspect who was stopped for speeding is now facing more charges after he battered two Caddo deputies and was found with 222 grams of cocaine in his shoes.

Damione Brock was stopped around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at LA Hwy. 2 and Odom Road for speeding and failing to dim his headlights. During the stop, deputies also learned Brock had an outstanding warrant through the Shreveport Police Department.

When Deputies Matt Purgerson and Earlton Parker placed Brock under arrest, Brock attempted to run. The deputies grabbed Brock to keep him from fleeing, and a struggle ensued. Brock struck Parker several times in the face. Purgerson grabbed the suspect around the waist, and they fell to the ground as Brock continued to try to flee. During the struggle, Brock attempted to pull Parker’s gun from his holster. Deputies used a Taser to affect the arrest and placed Brock in handcuffs.

Purgerson and Parker were assisted by Deputy Chris Daniel, who conducted a search of the suspect and found one bag of cocaine in Brock’s left shoe and two bags of cocaine in his right shoe. Also recovered were a set of scales and $1,168 in cash. During the search, Brock tried to flee again, but was detained by Deputy James Norwood.

Purgerson and Parker were taken to Willis-Knighton Bossier for treatment of minor injuries.

Brock, 30, of Plain Dealing, was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for distribution of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to disarm a peace officer, three counts of resisting with force, two counts of battery on a police officer, and traffic violations. His total bond was set at $183,109.
