The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is offering more state-required training for anyone hoping to obtain a concealed weapons permit, said Sheriff Steve Prator. 

“We’ve had an outpouring of requests for the course so we’re offering more opportunities,” Prator said. 

Four additional courses are scheduled for September 19 and 26, October 10 and 24.Citizens can complete most of the state requirements in one stop by attending a class at the Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy on one of these dates. Each class begins at 8 a.m. and lasts all day. It includes classroom and firing range instruction, and a qualifications course. 

Prator said he hopes the course will simplify the application process for law-abiding citizens who wish to carry a concealed weapon.

The cost to attend the course is $100. Pre-registration is required by calling Deputy Andrea Samuel at 681-0735.
