One man died on Sunday following a car crash in Caspiana on Saturday night, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s patrol deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of Highway 1 in response to a major crash. The driver who was later positively identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office as 27-year-old Bobby Sims was driving Southbound on Hwy. 1 when he appeared to have lost control and went off the road to the right hitting an electric pole and several trees. Sims was ejected from his silver F-150. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died at the hospital hours later.

The fallen power line caused three other car accidents. One car that drove over the line had to be towed away while two others were able to drive away with damaged vehicles. None of the three drivers were injured.

Highway 1 was shutdown briefly during the incident until crash site was cleared.
