Caddo Parish Patrol deputies are investigating a vehicle crash where two people died earlier today, said Sheriff Steve Prator.  

The crash happened just before 8:30 this morning on Highway 1 at Northport Boulevard. Deputies report that an SUV traveling northbound crossed the center lane and hit a Ford Fusion waiting to turn at the traffic light from the southbound lane. 

Both fatality victims were occupants of the SUV.  The driver of the Fusion was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.   

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
