Massive tree traps woman inside car

Caddo deputies helped rescue a woman after a large tree landed on her car during this afternoon’s thunderstorm, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Hwy. 169 near Blanchard Furrh Road. Deputies said high winds from the storm caused a massive pine tree to fall on the woman’s car, trapping her inside. The accident also shut down traffic on Hwy. 169.

Deputies, firefighters, and volunteers worked together to remove the woman from the car. Deputies said the woman was conscious, alert, and in good spirits during the process.

The woman was transported to Ochsner LSU Health by Caddo Fire District 1 with serious injuries.

The road remained closed for more than two hours while crews worked to clear the roadway.

There is no update on the driver’s condition at this time.
