CPSO LIvestock Patrol at work

An influx of loose livestock impounded recently by the Caddo Sheriff's Office has at times created a near full house at the department's livestock holding pen, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

So far this week the CPSO livestock patrol has sheltered six horses, a donkey, and a sheep, and is holding a cow that will be auctioned off next week.

Five of the horses were returned to their owner on the same day they were picked up. The Sheriff's Office is still looking for the owners of a bay mare found running loose on Pines Road at South Lakeshore on Wednesday and the donkey that was picked up in the 5700 block of Pinehill Road on Tuesday. The sheep was abandoned by its owners earlier this month in the 8500 block of Hwy. 170.

Owners have 10 days to claim their animals or they will be auctioned off to the general public. Until then they are sheltered and cared for by the Sheriff's Office.

A silent auction for a heifer picked up on Keithville-Springridge Road on August 3 begins on Tuesday at the Sheriff's Patrol Office at 4910 North Market Street.

For more information about any of the animals, contact Sgt. Gary Bailey at 464-7920.
