Sheriff Steve Prator swore in 10 new deputies to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office on Thursday, October 26. The ceremony was held at the Sheriff's administrative offices on the seventh floor of Government Plaza at 505 Travis Street in Shreveport.

The new deputies are Rawlings Osifo, Jakaylon Hall, Jelmia French, Latoya Thomas, Van'trevious Bryant, Robert Owens, Ja'Kaylin White, Laderika Cooksey, Rachel Irvin, and Teresa Ryan.

Like many other law enforcement agencies nationwide, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office has struggled to find recruits.

"We have been proactive in our recruitment efforts and are thrilled to have this new group; however, we're still 39 deputies short," Sheriff Prator said. "I encourage anyone with integrity and a heart of service to apply to what I believe to be the best law enforcement agency there is."

Applicants can be as young as 18 years old. There are openings for licensed practical nurses, fleet maintenance, food service, and security deputies. Those interested should visit caddosheriff.org to get information on qualifications, benefits, and how to submit an application.
