Caddo Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Keithville man for first-degree rape, said Sheriff Jay Long.

On April 10, Peyton Paul Melsha, 30, was arrested on an active warrant from a previous investigation involving inappropriate behavior with a juvenile.

The U.S. Marshal’s Task Force located Melsha in the 900 block of Barron Road where he had barricaded himself inside a residence. After a brief stand-off and assistance from the Caddo Sheriff’s Special Response Team and Hostage Negotiations Team, Melsha was arrested by Detective Christopher Ardoin.

Melsha was booked into Caddo Correctional Center on one count of first-degree rape, one count of sexual battery, and resisting arrest.
