Caddo Sheriff's detectives arrested a Shreveport man for beating a 5-year-old boy, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Kevin Pringle, 27, of the 1000 block of Davidson Lane, was arrested for cruelty to a juvenile following an investigation by Detective Jackie Winston. Pringle is currently being held at the Caddo Correctional Center. His bond has been set at $75,184.

Pringle is accused of whipping the child on the back and legs with a belt, causing lacerations and bleeding. Day care workers noticed the injuries and contacted Child Protective Services, which then alerted the Caddo Sheriff's Office.
