Caddo Sheriff's first on-line tax auction starts Wednesday

The Caddo Sheriff's Office will hold its first on-line tax sale auction Wednesday, May 19, through Friday, May 21.

Participants can log on from home, work, or virtually anywhere in the world to participate in the auction of Caddo Parish properties that have a record of delinquent taxes.

The on-line auction - the first of its kind for a Louisiana sheriff's office - takes the place of the traditional tax sale held each May at the Parish Courthouse. Traditional sales require anyone desiring to participate in the process to be present when the auction is being conducted. On-line auctions will allow access to a greater number of citizens who will now be able to bid on more than 3,000 properties.

To view photographs and details about the properties, log on to civicsource.com or go to caddosheriff.org and click on the tax sale link. Bidding is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Computers for public use during the bidding process will be available in Room G-20 at the Caddo Parish Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Anyone interested in participating in the tax sale must pre-register. Registration can be done on-line at civicsource.com or by visiting the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Tax Department at 501 Texas Street in Shreveport.

At the conclusion of the auction, tax sale participants will be provided with a report showing all properties in which they are the successful bidder and the amount due for each property. The report will be generated shortly after the close of business on Friday. The notice will be placed on the buyer's user account at civicsource.com.

The new tax sale process does not affect the weekly sheriff’s sales held at the Courthouse.
