Vivian police officer receives summons

An off-duty Vivian police officer received a summons for aggravated assault after threatening a man with a gun.

David Jones, Jr., 40, of the 600 block of Redbud Court in Vivian, was issued the summons by the Caddo Sheriff's Office. A second man involved in the incident, Kenneth Hodge, 48, of the 1500 block of South Pardue in Vivian, received a summons for disturbing the peace.

Both men were customers at the Cash Magic in Vivian on May 6 when they got into a verbal altercation over tickets Jones had issued to one of Hodge's family members. The argument escalated with Hodge using profanity and threatening language. Jones left the store and retrieved a gun. The Sheriff's Office was notified after Jones returned inside the store, pointed the weapon at Hodge, and threatened to shoot him.

The case was investigated by Sheriff's Detectives Charles Bradford and Donnie Laney.
