A Shreveport woman filed a fraudulent income tax return in the name of her unemployed ex-husband and used the Child Support Office to pass the return on to her.

Valarie Price, also known as Valarie Wiggins, 33, of the 4200 block of Lakeshore, was arrested for identity theft following an investigation by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Yomeka Evans.

Price made up employment information pertaining to her ex-husband and used the information to obtain a $6,111 refund. The Department of Social Services intercepted the refund issued in her ex-husband's name and awarded Price $4,836 of the money in back child support. The remaining $1,275 of the refund was sent to the address Price listed on the false return. Price deposited the check in a bank account she established in her ex-husband's name, then withdrew all the funds and closed the account.

She is currently in the Caddo Correctional Center.
