An investigation into a local check kiting scheme has led to the arrest of a Bossier City man on bank fraud charges, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Richard Borek, 33, was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center following his arrest on a warrant obtained by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Frank Edmondson of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.

Borek scammed seven banks by opening accounts with cash and depositing closed account checks into the banks' ATMs to withdraw money. So far, the loss to the banks totals nearly $16,000.
