Shreveporter arrested for Subway break-in

Caddo sheriff's detectives arrested a Shreveport man for the June 4 burglary of the Subway sandwich shop at 5795 North Market, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

A man wearing garden gloves and a straw hat used a hammer to steal two cash drawers from the business around 2 a.m.

Former store employee Carlos Lott Jr. was identified as the suspect and was arrested by Sheriff's Detective Donnie Laney. Lott, 18, of the 3200 block of Marjorie Street, was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for simple burglary.

During the investigation, Laney posed as Lott to answer a text to Lott's cell phone, during which he convinced a friend of Lott's to retrieve the stolen money and clothes used in the burglary and bring them to the sheriff's Detective Office.

A portion of the money was recovered. Lott said he gambled the rest away playing dice.
