A 74-year-old Shreveport woman was arrested today for stealing the identity of her 87-year-old friend, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Dorothy Johnson, of the 7400 block of Glen Leaf, was arrested for identity theft and theft of assets of an aged person following an investigation by Detective Bobby Herring of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.

Johnson opened credit cards using the victim’s personal information and stole over $6,500 by using one of the victim’s credit cards. Johnson and the victim were one-time friends and neighbors, which provided Johnson with access to the victim's home and personal information.

Johnson was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center and later released on her own recognizance.
