Man back in jail after 53 arrests

John Wesley Pilinski, 34, is no stranger to jail. That's where he is again today after being arrested for the 53rd time Wednesday night.

Pilinkski, of Keithville, was arrested by Caddo Sheriff's Deputies John Hay and Russell Hicks for stealing an SUV on Freeman Drive around 9:30 p.m. He was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for theft, illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated flight from an officer, and numerous traffic violations.

The owner of the Dodge Durango said she was inside her home when she saw the vehicle being backed out of the driveway. Within minutes, Hay spotted the car on Colquitt Road. Pilinski fled from the deputy, then missed a turn and hit a tree, crashing the SUV in the front yard of a residence on Hoyte Drive. He jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. He was later found by Hicks running across a parking lot on Mansfield Road.

Within an hour of the theft, Pilinski was in custody and headed back to CCC, where he's been booked numerous times before. He's also faced charges in other local jurisdictions.

At the time of his arrest on Wednesday, Pilinski was under investigation by detectives for other crimes in Caddo Parish. Further charges are pending.

Shreveport K-9 officers assisted with Wednesday's investigation and located several items of evidence connected to the theft.
