Crop duster clips woman's SUV

A Frierson woman is seeking medical treatment this morning after the roof of her SUV was clipped by a crop duster.

Around 8 a.m., the Caddo Sheriff's Office and Fire District #5 responded to a collision between a Honda SUV and an AT401 Air Tractor plane that was attempting to land at Nor-Wes Incorporated, an agricultural aviation business at 5268 Robson Road.

The Honda, driven by 62-year-old Menuarn Burns, was traveling westbound on Robson as the plane was making its final approach to an airstrip running north/south. The plane came in too low and struck the roof of the SUV with its left wheel.

Airbags deployed inside the Honda as it rolled approximately 450 feet before coming to a stop. Burns then called 911. She was transported to Willis-Knighton Pierremont for treatment.

The pilot, who has been identified as Stephen Vincent, 52, of Gueydan, LA, was able to land the plane safely. He received no injuries.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident as a motor vehicle crash. The FAA and NTSB will review reports supplied by patrol deputies and the Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit but did not respond to the scene.
