CPSO charges Arcadia man with home burglaries in Caddo

An Arcadia man who was arrested for a string of residential burglaries in Shreveport now faces more charges - this time from the Caddo Sheriff's Office.

Donald Pickett, 44, of Arcadia, was charged with one count of simple burglary and one count of aggravated burglary in connection with break-ins in south Caddo Parish, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Pickett was arrested at the Caddo Correctional Center where he is being held on multiple burglary charges brought by Shreveport Police after reports of home break-ins in the South Highland and Broadmoor neighborhoods in recent months.

Today Sheriff's Detective Donnie Laney added a simple burglary charge to Pickett's list of offenses for the Feb. 26 break-in of a home in the 2700 block of Meriwether Road. Jewelry and a television were taken after the suspect used a crowbar-type tool to force open a sliding door.

Sheriff's Detective Michael Price arrested Pickett on Friday for the Feb. 13 aggravated burglary of a home in the 11000 block of Greenacres. A sliding glass door in the rear of the residence was forced open and six bottles of liquor and a flat screen television were stolen. The 84-year-old homeowner was injured when he was held against an interior wall during the burglary.
