Two of the Caddo Sheriff's Office's Most Wanted suspects are in custody today in Gulfport, Mississippi, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Mark Cayton, 41, and Lisa Smethers, 42, were arrested after Caddo Sheriff's Detective Donnie Laney received a tip from a Biloxi resident, who said he'd hired the pair to work on his rental property and discovered they were wanted while conducting a background check. Within an hour of the phone call, Cayton and Smethers were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal's Office.
Both Cayton and Smethers are wanted in connection with numerous property and financial crimes. A warrant obtained by Laney accuses both of illegal possession of stolen things, and a warrant obtained by Caddo Detective James Lewis accuses them of felony theft. Additional charges are pending.
Arrangements have not yet been made for their extradition.
