Underage alcohol operation nets 1 arrest

Caddo sheriff's deputies checked 22 businesses recently for compliance withlaws governing the sale of alcohol to underage persons, but only one was found in violation, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Shantel S. Cook, 31, an employee of Elsie's Truck Stop in the 7100 block of Hwy. 1 in Blanchard, was issued a citation for selling alcohol to a person under the age of 21. 

Businesses that were checked but did not sell alcohol were: 

1) Food Fast #84, 5875 North Market;

2) The Triangle, 10881 LA 1, Mooringsport;

3) Magnolia Clubhouse #1, 22300 LA 1, Rodessa;

4) Cash Magic, 14347 LA 1, Vivian;

5) Kwik Pantry #2, 15585 LA 1, Vivian;

6) Cush’s Grocery, 9536 Ellerbe;

7) The Market, 10595 Norris Ferry;

8) First and Last Stop, 10277 Linwood;

9) Crawdaddy’s, 12298 Mansfield Road, Keithville;

10) Circle K, 11730 Mansfield Road;

11) General Store, 6230 Colquitt Road, Keithville;

12) The Derrick, 6780 Colquitt Road, Keithville;

13) The Derrick Express, 6782 Colquitt Road, Keithville;

14) Triple JJJ Travel Plaza, 8311 Springridge-Texas State Line Road, Keithville;

15) H & H Grocery, 9505 Springridge-Texas State Line Road, Keithville;

16) Relay Station, 9110 US 79, Greenwood;

17) Lickskillet Liquor, 10106 US 79, Bethany;

Prator said the Sheriff's Office, which has diligently addressed the sale of alcohol to underage persons, was pleased with the results of the operation. However, he said deputies will continue to monitor establishments, especially as high school events such as proms and graduations approach.
