Crime Victims’ Rights Week to be recognized in Caddo Parish

A ceremony to kick off National Crime Victims' Rights Week will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, at the Northwest Louisiana Technical College auditorium at 2010 North Market Street in Shreveport.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will present a proclamation declaring it Crime Victims Rights Week in Caddo Parish. He'll be joined by other law enforcement, city, and parish officials.

An information fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the same location. Representatives will be on hand to provide the public with information on resources and free services available to crime victims from law enforcement, social service organizations, legal services, crime victims' advocates, and others.

This year’s theme for Crime Victims' Rights Week—Reshaping the Future, Honoring the Past—pays tribute to the millions of crime victims over the decades who have summoned the strength to rebuild their shattered lives, families, and communities, one step at a time. Similarly, it honors the victim service community whose members have walked alongside these victims, responding to their courage with unwavering commitment and skillful guidance.
