CSO seeks man for attempted murder

Caddo sheriff's deputies are searching for the man they suspect pistol-whipped his ex-girlfriend at her apartment on Roy Road early this morning.

Sheriff Steve Prator said detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Derrick Thomas, 23, on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, and aggravated second-degree battery. Bond on the warrant was set at $100,000.

Detectives say Meosha Johnson was at her apartment in the 3900 block of Roy Road along with her 16-month-old baby, and a friend, Roger Fizer Jr. When Fizer opened the door to leave the apartment, Thomas forced his way inside with a gun.

Thomas swung at Fizer with the gun, which discharged, grazing Fizer's head. Thomas then repeatedly beat Johnson about the face and head with the gun.

Neighbors alerted the Sheriff's Office about the gunshot and arguing at the apartment. Thomas fled the scene before authorities could arrive.

Fizer refused treatment of his injuries. Johnson was transported to LSU Health Sciences Center.

Anyone with information regarding Thomas' whereabouts is urged to contact the Caddo Sheriff's Office at 675-2170 or Detective Terry Richardson at 681-0700.
