Caddo D.A.R.E. ceremonies set to begin tomorrow

The Caddo Sheriff’s Office has scheduled spring graduation ceremonies for area fifth-graders participating in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The first ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Walnut Hill Elementary School. Other ceremonies are scheduled as follows:

May 9, 1 p.m., First Baptist School;
May 10, 1 p.m., St. Joseph Catholic School;
May 12, 1 p.m., Mooringsport Elementary;
May 16, 1 p.m., Southfield School;
May 17, 1 p.m., Herndon Magnet; and
May 25, 1 p.m., Oil City Elementary.

The D.A.R.E. program includes 17 weeks of officer-led classroom lessons that help young people build self-esteem, learn how to deal effectively with unwanted peer pressure and find healthy alternatives to drugs, alcohol, violence and gangs.
