Sheriff Steve Prator said today the Caddo sheriff's Office is joining other government organizations in utilizing social networking services to provide information to the media and public.

Prator said the department will use Facebook to release information on events, programs, announcements, arrests, crime trends, and traffic information.

"Facebook will help us communicate more immediately with the public as events are unfolding," Prator said. The department will be using social media in addition to traditional media including newspapers, radio and television.

To receive updates from the CPSO, search Facebook for the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and "like" the profile. The site is identified by the Sheriff's Office logo. A separate profile has been established for Sheriff's Safety Town in Caddo Parish. "Like" it also to receive updates on events at SST.
