Caddo Sheriff to offer holiday safety course for women

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator is hosting a personal safety course for women in preparation for the upcoming holiday shopping season.

Participants will have three opportunities to attend the course: October 7-8, November 4-5, or December 2-3. Each session will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Fridays at Sheriff's Safety Town and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays at the Caddo Sheriff's Regional Training Academy.

The first day of instruction will cover crime prevention tips to help keep you from becoming a victim of crime, particularly around the holiday season. Participants will receive information on financial crimes like identity theft; property crimes like burglary and home invasions; crimes against persons such as robbery and physical assaults; andsafety while traveling.

The second day of instruction covers personal safety tips and firearms familiarization. Participants will learn about concealed carry laws and gun safety and participate in supervised shooting exercises at the Training Academy.

The program is open to women ages 18 and up.There is no charge for the course, but seating is limited.To register contact the Sheriff’s Office Community Programs Section at 681-0870 or 681-0875.
