A man was airlifted to a local hospital this morning after falling 40-90 feet from an oil field rig.

Everett Cobbs, 28, was coming down the rig with safety gear on when he fell and landed on the deck of the rig causing severe injuries. He was treated at the scene by Caddo Fire District #5 and Balentine Ambulance before being airlifted to LSU Health Sciences Center. His condition at this time is not known.

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on LA Hwy. One south of Ellerbe Road.

Cobbs is an employee of Sandia Drilling Company. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
