A coach at Woodlawn Leadership Academy was arrested this morning for slapping a student across the face, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

DeCarlos Holmes, 35, was issued a misdemeanor summons for simple battery after meeting with Det. Jackie Winston at the Caddo Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division today.

The incident took place in the school gym on Nov. 1. The 16-year-old victim told deputies that he and another boy were paddled by the coach after he found them in the hallway. After being paddled, the coach asked the victim if he had a problem. When the boy refused to answer, he said the coach struck him across the face, which was witnessed by other adults.
