Caddo sheriff’s detectives arrested a Shreveport man for forgery after he deposited two counterfeit money orders into his bank account, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Eric Williams, 28, of the 2800 block of Elm Street, was arrested Tuesday by Detective Frank Edmondson of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.

Williams said he received two money orders valued at $815 each from a friend and was to cash them and give the money back to his friend, but instead he deposited the money orders into his own account.He then withdrew about $1,200 and spent the money on Christmas.

Williams was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
