A former loan officer at Thrifty Loans was arrested today for stealing from the company by manipulating old loans that had previously been opened by other customers.

Mikiya Turner, 34, was arrested for theft following an investigation by Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Doug Smith of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.

According to Smith, in 2009, while working as a loan officer at Thrifty Loans, Turner fraudulently reopened old loans and took the money from the loans for herself and family members. She then altered the loan records in an attempt to conceal the fraudulent loans. The missing funds were discovered during an internal audit. The total loss in the case was $4,000.

Turner was arrested today on a warrant obtained by Smith in June. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
