Caddo Sheriff’s Office investigates copper theft from area high school

The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of copper wiring that affected the air conditioning system at Northwood HS, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The theft was discovered around 9 a.m. today by a custodian who was responding to reports that several of the classrooms weren’t cooling down. About 1,200 feet of copper wiring was cut and removed from two panels in the school’s boiler room. The theft is believed to have occurred while the school was on spring break.

Sheriff’s crime scene investigators and detectives responded to the school in search of evidence and information that could lead to an arrest. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Det. Michael Price at 675-2170 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.

Caddo school officials closed the school early today because of the broken air conditioning system.
