Girl killed in four-wheeler accident

A 10-year-old Rodessa girl died this past weekend following a four-wheeler crash in north Caddo Parish, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The crash occurred Saturday evening on private property in the 18000 block of Atlanta-Mira Road in Ida. Allison Paige Simmons died after being thrown from the quad.

Witnesses said five children were on-board the 2010 Polaris four-wheeler. The vehicle had two rows of seating. One of the occupants said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when its driver turned to avoid a large tree branch. All five of the occupants were thrown off.

Deputies said none of the occupants were wearing helmets, and none were belted or using any form of restraint system.

The driver of the vehicle, a 12-year-old girl, was admitted to LSUHSC for treatment. A 13-year-old male passenger was taken by ambulance to North Caddo Memorial Hospital. A 12-year-old female passenger went by private vehicle to LSUHSC, and a 2-year-old male was not transported but his parents were advised by the Fire District to have him evaluated at a local hospital. Allison Paige Simmons was airlifted to LSUHSC before she died on Sunday.
